I am an inspirational manager with excellent experience of strategy, planning, performance management, programme and project management skills with a strong results oriented and people development focus.  Taking pride in 22 years experience in many different industries and government delivering successful projects and programmes that fundamentally change the way people go about their business.  I have an extensive background on how to develop optimum strategies, plan, execute and control complex operations in the culturally diverse global environment.  My goal is simple to help organisations to become more successful by developing people, processes and systems to achieve the highest levels of excellence.

 

Competencies:

Strategy and Planning: Can help identify strategic issues through an outside in, or emergent strategic development processes, cascade down the organisation to create aligned plans that support the strategy.  Fashion change initiatives, put in place the structure and process to ensure communication and implementation of the strategies, and innovation through knowledge management and organisational learning.  Currently is adjunct @ Strathclyde Business School teaching Strategy.

Performance Management: Can lead improvement initiatives by putting the stakeholder needs at the centre of the discussion, developing KPIs and achievable targets, and data gathering and reporting systems.  Will bring cross functional teams together to develop innovative solutions and to solve difficult and persistent problems.  Is experienced with Benchmarking, Balanced Score Card, ADGSEC Performance Contract Reporting, and ADAEP/EFQM Excellence Model.

Programme/Project Management:  Certified PMP Professional and Prince2 Programme Manager.  Utilises his extensive experience to achieve the required outcomes.  Using many years of Project Management experience he can set up and develop the right Program/Project Management Office to suit the organisation’s needs either as a delivery function and/or training and project office support function.

Risk Management:  Very experienced in managing project risk and maximising opportunities both internally an externally to the operation using analysis and cost effective risk response planning.  Confronts and deals with risks at their origin and he manages contentious issues through team participation, problem solving and leadership.  Michael is the Risk Management SME at Injazat and developed their training materials for PMI Certified Risk Management Training.

Change Management:  Certified PROSCI Change Manger, whether the Management of Change is episodic or incremental he establishes a change strategy, a sense of urgency, the correct sponsorship model, and he empowers and enables people within the programme to anchor new approaches through the reinforcement of a shared vision.

Stakeholder Management:  Practiced using the AA1000 Accountability Stakeholder Engagement Standards, he can engage internal and/or external Stakeholders who affect, or are affected by initiatives he is involved with to develop mutually agreed solutions and joint plans of action.

Coaching:  Michael’s masters dissertation was in Executive Coaching, trained in Results Coaching System, and member of International Coaching Federation.  He uses this knowledge and coaching skills with functional and project teams to deliver optimum results.

Scenario Planning:  Can take organisations through the process of creating scenarios of future states to assist the testing of the robustness of strategies and plans, and to stretch organisational thinking.

Leadership:  Accepts ultimate responsibility and ownership for the success of assignments undertaken, and leads from the front; motivating, cajoling, persuading team members and stakeholders to reach the aspired levels of performance.

Political & Cultural Sensitivity:  Worked in many sensitive environments in different parts of the world including Latin America, UK, USA, Europe, Middle East, Hong Kong and New Zealand.  Working globally requires a high degree of cultural awareness and sensitivity, both in terms of issue management, resource management and strengthening relationships.
